Also known as: Epitalon, Epithalone, AEDG peptide

Synthetic tetrapeptide derived from the pineal-gland extract epithalamin; extensively studied in telomere-biology and gerontology research.

Epithalon is a short synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) developed by Russian gerontologist Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues at the Saint-Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology.

It is derived from work on epithalamin, a pineal-gland extract studied since the 1970s.The published literature on Epithalon includes more than two decades of preclinical and early clinical investigations examining telomerase activity, telomere length in human fibroblast cultures, melatonin regulation, and broader gerontology-research endpoints.

A 2003 study by Khavinson and colleagues documented measurable telomere elongation in previously telomerase-negative human cells in culture.Epithalon is among the most well-established research peptides in the longevity-research segment and is cataloged in larger vial sizes than most injectable peptides, reflecting its small size and stability profile.

Research applications

  • Telomerase activity and telomere-length research
  • Pineal-gland and melatonin-axis biology
  • Circadian-rhythm research
  • Gerontology and cellular-aging models
  • Anti-tumor research (published Russian literature)

Epithalon (Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on the natural epithalamin produced by the pineal gland. It activates telomerase, the enzyme responsible for telomere elongation, and is studied for its potential to slow cellular aging and extend lifespan.
