IGF-1 LR3
Also known as: Long R3 IGF-1, Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 Long Arg3
Recombinant analog of human IGF-1 with Arg³ substitution and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension designed to reduce IGFBP binding affinity.
IGF-1 LR3 is an 83-amino-acid analog of human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).
It incorporates two modifications from native IGF-1: an arginine substitution at position 3 (in place of glutamate) and a 13-residue N-terminal extension derived from methionyl porcine GH.
Both modifications reduce the analog's affinity for IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), resulting in greater bioavailability in cell-culture and preclinical research settings.IGF-1 LR3 is a standard reference compound in growth-signaling research, used in cell-culture experiments to study the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R), downstream PI3K/AKT and MAPK pathways, and hypertrophy-related gene expression in muscle, bone, and neuronal tissue models. The compound is typically supplied in 1mg vials, reflecting both the high per-mg cost of recombinant production and the small mass quantities required for typical research volumes.
